Stoops: Hard lessons for Sooners

Who’s on the cover of SI?

Who’s on the cover of SI? Not Mat Barkley! Not Denard Robinson! Not… um, oh what’s his name… hum, the guy that really bombed during the KSU game. Oh yeah, Landry Jones! Not him!

It’s Manti Te’o! Beware Barkley and Jones! Just ask Denard Robinson. Te’o is coming… and Hell's coming with him, you hear? Hell's coming with him!

Need I say more?

College Gameday Predictions - 09/22/2012

We four has some good matchups for our four teams and two of them are playing each other, of course I am talking about Notre Dame and Michigan.

#11 Notre Dame (3-0) vs. #18 Michigan (2-1)
This game will depend on which Denard Robinson shows up for this game. The ND defense can apply good pressure Denard will get flustered and it will be over for MI. If not, expect another classic like the ones we have seen the last three years. At almost 52 I don’t know if I can take another game like last years. Might end up in the ER if so. I don’t think this will be as high a scoring game as the last few.
Mole’s Prediction: ND 17 - 14

#13 USC (2-1) vs. Cal (1-2)
SC’s key for success today? Just show up. Cal looks terrible this year with losses to Nevada and OSU. SC will want to make a statement this week after last week’s loss to Stanford so expect a high scoring game… well, at least from one of the teams playing.
Mole’s Prediction: SC 45 – Cal 7

#6 Oklahoma (2-0) vs. #15 Kansas State (3-0)
This will be the first real look for the Sooners this year and what a tough one this should be. KSU looks amazing this year with a “Tim Tebow like” QB in Collin Klein who is just a workhorse. Their first three games this year? 51-9 over Missouri State, 52-13 over Miami and 35-21 over North Texas.
Mole’s Prediction: KSU 35 – Oklahoma 28

SDSU vs. San Jose State
SDSU escaped a close one against North Dakota last week with a 49-41 victory. Not much else to go on here other than SJS was the team that gave Stanford a handful in week one with a close 20-17 loss to the Cardinals. Interestingly, last week, the Cardinals beat SC last week. Makes you wonder.
Mole’s Prediction: SDSU 38 – SJS 10

Why 'College GameDay' Should Be at Michigan vs. Notre Dame, Not Clemson vs. FSU

What is wrong with those guys over there at College GAMEDAY!

09/15/2012 (Week Three) Follow-up

#20 NotreDame (2-0) vs. #10 MSU (2-0)
Mole: MSU 28 - ND 17
Results: MSU 3 - ND 20
I was WAY off. But in a good way!

#2 USC (2-0) vs. #21 Stanford
Mole: SC 35 - Stanford 14
Results: SC 14 - Stanford 21
Way off again. And again, in a good way!!

Michigan (1-1) vs. UMASS (0-2)
Mole: UMASS 0 - Michigan A Lot!
Results: UMASS 13 - Michigan 63
Off a little but pretty close. Glad MI will be 2-1 coming into next week’s game.

#5 Oklahoma vs. NOBODY – Bi-week
Mole: More inflated egos
Results: More inflated egos
This is the only one I got right. And in a big way!!!

SDSU vs. North Dakota
Mole: SDSU 38 – ND 10
Results: SDSU 49 – ND 41
Didn't see this one that close but oh well.

College Gameday Predictions - 09/15/2012

Big day today for some of us. Here are my thoughts on what our teams must do to come out victorious this Saturday.

#20 NotreDame (2-0) vs. #10 MSU (2-0)
Notre Dame must find a way to offset the powerful defense of MSU and give Everett Golson plenty of time to do his thing and hopefully establish a running game this week. Cierre Wood will be back this week after a two week suspension.  That will give the Irish three powerful players in the backfilled; Ciere Wood, Theo Riddick and George Atkinson III. Secondly, the Irish defense, led by Manti Te’o, must stop Le’Veon Bell. Not an  easy task. If they can they can pull off the upset.
Mole’s Prediction: MSU 28 - ND 17 (but hoping for the reverse)

#2 USC (2-0) vs. #21 Stanford
SC’s biggest hurdle is to defend against the psychological game. No one on that team, including the Golden Boy, has ever beaten the Cardinals. Also, depending on whether they have a freshman center starting or not, might have some OL issues. Bottom-line, on paper they are a shoe in.
Mole’s Prediction: SC 35 - Stanford 14

Michigan (1-1) vs. UMASS (0-2)
Michigan must, must, must do one thing to win this game. Show up. This won’t be another Appalachian State.
Mole’s Prediction: UMASS 0 - Michigan A Lot!

#5 Oklahoma vs. NOBODY – Bi-week
Another easy win for the “Good ole OK Boys”. This week will be about as tough as the last two weeks were. All Oklahoma needs to do is just stay home and revel in their highly overrated AP ranking. Bask in the glory, the glory of such victories as a 27-7 win over the studs at UTEP. And showdown of the century, yes, the unbelievable 69-13 victory over the amazing powerhouse know as Florida A&M. You are the team to beat this year, oh Sooner Nation. You are the team!
Mole’s Prediction: More inflated egos

And my “Just for good measure” game

SDSU vs. North Dakota
Haven’t really followed either team this year but I would think the boys at SDAU could handle ND (North Dakota, not Notre Dame).
Mole’s Prediction: SDSU 38 – ND 10
